Community Engagement Officer
Description
Position Purpose Responsible for provision of technical leadership and management of the community component of the FP and post-abortion care service project. S/he will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of project deliverables. Reporting directly to the Tuungane Health Advisor, she/he will work closely with other team members and our partners.

Programmatic Areas
• Work closely with Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Community Based Distributors (CBDs) to provide voluntary FP education, services and referral to women
and men, through community groups (e.g. CoCoBA, Beach Management Units, Farmers’ Groups, First Time Parents, Youth groups etc) and community members at large.
• Liaise with Health Facility staff to organize community based outreach activities to deliver integrated SRH services, including FP.
• Liaise with DRCH-Cos and CHMTs in project districts to support the coordination and implementation of community – based Outreach activities to deliver integrated SRH services, including FP.
• Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of FP services data into the government systems (MTUHA) and in Pathfinder registers.
• Support PHE Champions, CoCoBA groups and CHWs in conducting Population, Health and Environment (PHE) Training and services.
• Coordinate the work of CHWs and CBDs to enhance their performance in advancing voluntary FP information and services
• Coordinate with DRCH-Cos and CHMTs to organize FT training, including on the job mentorship and coaching.
• Support monitoring, evaluation and data collection activities at health facilities and at community level.
Integration aspects
• Support Community Health Officers in PHE Training
• Support Community Health Officers in the identification, training and refresher training for Community Health Workers / PHE Champions
• Support the Tuungane Governance Officer in designing and delivering FP focused discussion and messages during community meetings, village government, Ward Development Committee and Project Advisory Committee meetings
• Support Fisheries, Forestry, Model Household and Agriculture officers in preparing FP focused meetings and messages
• Provide FP based training to all Tuungane staff members during quarterly meetings
Basic Requirements
• Background in health (e.g. Assistant Medical Officer, Nursing Officer or Clinical Officer). Candidates without background in health will be considered if and only if they have demonstrated experience in coordinating and implementing community based health projects and integrated FP outreach activities.
• Demonstrated Experience and competence in organizing / facilitating FP outreach activities
• At least two-year experience of working on SRHR and FP programs, especially in the rural areas
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience of implementing community based health programs, including experience of working with CHWs, Health facility staff and CBDs.
• Understanding of the health sector and experience of working with CHMTs and other structures at ward and village levels
• Candidates who have been trained and have skills for delivering Long Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARC) will be very highly considered.
• Strong communication, facilitation, liaison, and motivation skills
• Ability to collect, compile and analyze data; experience in using MTUHA, and writing reports
. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Computer skills
