Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator

Role overview
In this role the M & E coordinator will work closely with the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager to coach project managers in planning and review systems of their project that ensure strong project delivery. The M and E Coordinator will also work with international M & E advisers to increase the use of a project management system (DevResults) that VSO has purchased to improve knowledge management, transparency to stakeholders and accountability. Your specific task will directly contribute to monitoring and evaluating the VSO projects, through various evaluation interventions and analysis. This analysis will show the impact of the VSO projects and give advice for future direction of implementation strategy and M&E tools and exercises. If you are an excellent programme manager and you want to put those skills to use to contribute to improving the situation of the youth in Tanzania, this is your job!
Skills, qualifications and experience required
Essential:
• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Social Science, or related field.
• 1-3 years’ experience in M&E
• Experience in management of data either in government, private company or development organization.
• Experience in training and mentoring others
• Data analysis skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent management skills
• Good communication skills
• Fluent in English.
• Knowledgeable of challenges of working in Africa

Role overview

We are seeking a qualified Radiologist to volunteer with our health programme in Southern Tanzania. The volunteer will train midwives and assistant medical officers working at the reproductive and child health clinics on how to use the portable ultrasound (Vscan). If you have the right training and experience and can volunteer with us for a period of four (4) months from October 2017, we are eager to hear from you.The volunteer will work in the Accelerated Care and Treatment for Mothers and Newborn (ACT) project which aims to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in Lindi and Mtwara regions of Tanzania.

Research Volunteer

Role overview
The ideal person for this position will conduct a nationwide context analysis on social accountability for the youth in Tanzania. The researcher will conduct a (quantitative) desk research as well as consulting and conducting informative interviews with key stakeholders. This consultation will help draw learnings and good practices for future programming. This analysis will help us to make the critical decisions as to where the most vulnerable are, their needs and therefore our choice for the geographical focus in our programming. The findings from this assessment will help inform VSO Tanzania country strategy on social accountability for the youth and will reflect VSO’s people first strategy.
Skills, qualifications and experience required
Knowledge on social accountability related to youth is required as a core skill;
Know-how of participatory assessment / development approaches is required;
Thorough understanding of social accountability and governance in order to comprehend the landscape that is reviewed;
General software knowledge (e.g. Microsoft Office), and knowledge of statistical packages such as Excel, SPSS or STATA;
A recognized undergraduate or master degree or comparable qualification (master degree is preferable) in a relevant discipline;
Minimum of 3 years of experience in conducting large survey / fieldwork (data collection, validation, entry and analysis), leading field staff teams implementing surveys in the field;
Proven experience and expertise on quantitative and qualitative methods;
Willingness to travel to field sites during the fieldwork phase;
Good interpersonal / human relations skills.
